Flying Fish by Kyle Dumont

Flying Fish has been in their new locations (the original brewery used to be in Cherry Hill) for about a year now and we decided to pop on by on a Saturday afternoon. The facility itself is huge (word on the street is that it was an warehouse owned by Motown Records previously). The facility and the tour were pretty straightforward so don't expect any craziness such as touring an old cracker factory. No free samples either. Bummer.

Back to the tasting room, they had 9 beers on tap and encouraged folks to do tasting flights to try all (well almost all) of their selection. We picked the HopFish, Abbey Dubbel, Red Fish, OktoberFish (as in Kombat), Grand Cru, Exit 4 American Trippel, Exit 14 Wild, and Rice Double IPA. Flying Fish brews some of these beers in an english style which makes for more mellow / balanced beers and I was surprised by the taste of some of their styles. For example, the double IPA doesn't have that heady/boozy taste that I often associate with the style, but that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. On a side note, don't come here for much besides drinking beers because the tasting room is devoid of anything but benches and bar.

Lo's Nose - The Grand Cru was really quite tasty with some banana, spice, and suprisingly little tartness. (Kyle's fav was the Dubbel, but who cares about the amateur opinion).
